“Second Chances” Catalogue
On May 3, 2024, “Second Chances,” a solo art exhibit by Quamaine Giles, opened to the public. The exhibit, a deeply personal collection of mixed-media works using fragments of found objects, offers a unique window into Quamaine’s journey. The chosen materials, like cardboard, cotton cloth, and rusty metal, represent the factory small town he’s from, and the countryside color palette takes viewers on a journey of rebirth—the second chance at the life he desired.
“Second Chances” Artist Talk | May 26, 2024
Facilitated as an open forum with no moderator, the Artist Talk offered viewers an opportunity to connect directly with Quamaine Giles through candid questions like “Why abstraction and not figurative work?” and “Whether or not all of his pieces have a story behind them.”
A flip through the opening night.
The Collection
The collection is focused on deepening inner discovery and intuition while showing an appreciation for renewed life through discarded materials. The series invites the viewers to reflect on their lives and potentially missed opportunities to create a second chance.
